Is improvmx.net a legitimate domain?

You may notice improvmx.net or bounces.improvmx.net in the headers of emails forwarded by ImprovMX — for example as "mailed-by", "signed-by", or in the Return-Path. This is completely normal and safe.

What is improvmx.net and why does it look different from improvmx.com?

Improvmx.net is a legitimate domain owned and operated by ImprovMX, used behind the scenes when forwarding your emails:

  • The envelope sender (Return-Path) of forwarded emails is rewritten to bounces.improvmx.net, so delivery failures come back to us instead of the original sender.
  • Forwarded emails may carry an improvmx.net DKIM signature, which lets mailbox providers report spam complaints back to us so we can fight abuse. The original sender's DKIM-Signature is preserved as-is.
  • If a forwarded email can't be delivered, the failure notification is sent from [email protected].
