Why can't I redirect emails to the same domain during account signup?

Explanation for why we don't allow users to redirect emails to the same domain during account signup.

When creating a new account for a pre-existing domain, users sometimes run into the issue that they're using user@domain.com as their main email, and they would like to start forwarding with ImprovMX for domain.com.

We don't allow this by default, because once a user sets up MX records with ImprovMX, their old email forwarding is often disrupted, resulting in them losing access to their account.

However, some advanced users do have a legitimate reason to do this, i.e. if they setup split delivery with Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, in which case their main account email will be forwarded with Google or Microsoft, and ImprovMX would only serve as a fall through forwarder. In such a case, users can first create their accounts using an email from a different domain, setup ImprovMX, and then subsequently change their account email back to their Google or Microsoft managed email.
