Generic DNS Configuration

Generic DNS configuration for any DNS registrar to forward with ImprovMX.

We have a number of guides on how to configure DNS at various popular providers on the left navigation.

If your DNS provider isn't listed there or you're just looking for general instructions, read on!

Connect to your domain registrar interface

MX records are set at your DNS provider which is usually the same as the domain registrar you’ve used to purchase your domain.

Delete previous “MX” entries

Delete all the previous “MX” entries you had registered for your DNS Zone, if any. They might look like this:

Add new "MX" and "TXT" entries

Type Host Value Priority
MX @ mx1.improvmx.com 10
MX @ mx2.improvmx.com 20
TXT @ v=spf1 include:spf.improvmx.com ~all

Now wait 24 - 48 hours for the DNS changes to propagate, although it often happens much sooner.

Still have questions?

There are dozens of DNS providers and although many of them use a standard format, many deviate. Although we don't know the ins and outs of every DNS provider, we'll be happy to try and assist if you have attempted to add the records and something isn't right. Please include the following if you're requesting support:

  1. Which DNS service are you using? (remember, we have guides for several!)
  2. Include a screenshot or screenshots showing what you have entered (or are trying to enter).
